The Golden Tulip brands traces their roots back to the early 1960s, when six independent hoteliers in the Netherlands joined forces under the Golden Tulip name. In 2009, Golden Tulip was acquired by Starwood Capital and joined in an alliance with the Louvre Hotels Group to form the 2nd largest hotel group in Europe and the 8th largest worldwide.
